We did it!

[Madoka shows the camera her tired but still proud Pokémon resting on her bed in the Center, presumably an hour or so after her triumph in Sprout Tower.]

The Sprout Tower challenge was a lot of fun, and Purrloin and Mami ended up evolving near the end! But, ah...

[The camera pans back to Madoka, who sets it down and fishes for the TM she earned in her bag. When she finds it, she holds it up for the camera to see.]

...Now that I've earned this Technical Machine, how do I use it...?

[There's no time to stop and congratulate Liepard on his evolution, however. Madoka still has Elder Li to face.

Amy still dutifully holding the camera, Madoka steps forward with her entourage of Pokémon. Though she's greeted with a kind smile, her face can only be described as determined. (Amy, of course, learned to stand between them and rotate the camera back and forth to who was speaking from their last match.) Liepard stands at her side, coming up to her midsection while standing on all-fours.]

"I suppose I can't interest you in polite conversation before we battle, can I."
"Afterward would be better, I think."
"Right. Allow me to say the usual pre-battle message, then.
"So good of you to come here! Sprout Tower is a place of training. People and Pokémon test their bonds to build a bright future together. I am the final test. Allow me to check the ties between you and your Pokémon!"
[Cue battle theme.]

...

[By the end of the match, Mami the Mareep has evolved into Flaaffy, and Madoka has earned the TM Flash, which she holds up to the camera triumphantly before the video cuts out again.]

[Amy the Espurr's eyes are the first thing viewers see of the footage, staring into the camera to make sure it's on. es. Yep, all in working order.

It then pans over to the battle starting in the background, between Madoka and a sage in the tower- it seems she is trying to best the tower's challenge and earn Flash. She must be much more confident in her team now.

Amy holds the camera as best she can, getting Madoka's leg and the rest of the battlefield in the shot.]

"Purrloin, you're up first!"
"Go, Bellsprout!"

[Purrloin leaps from his position beside Madoka and onto the space between the trainers, while Bellsprout pops out of the sage's ball, ready to fight. The former's hackles are raised, and he seems a lot larger than when Madoka first arrived.

Purrloin is faster than Bellsprout, so it moves first.]

"Use Fury Swipes!"

[Madoka knows Purrloin has no moves that are "super effective" against Bellsprout after facing the other trainers in the Tower, so she thinks using one over the others won't do any good.

Purrloin surges forward, raking at Bellsprout with his claws, though getting in range for a retaliation.]

"Bellsprout, hit it with your Vine Whip! There's no way it can dodge at this range!"

[He's right. Bellsprout whips Purrloin across the face and shoulders a few times before he can jump away, though Madoka doesn't seem too fettered.]

"That looks like it hurt... Okay, now use Pursuit!"

[Purrloin dashes forward in a zig-zag pattern, then at the last second almost seems to disappear- so that it can surprise Bellsprout by jumping behind it, and then hit.

Bellsprout fainted.

Purrloin returns to Madoka's side of the field and idly cleans his paw, waiting for his next victim opponent, while Madoka jumps for joy a few times.]

"Great job!! That was really quick!"

[The sage, chagrined, brandishes his next Pokéball at her.]

"We'll see how easy my Hoothoot is for you! Let's go!" [And so Hoothoot appears on the field. Purrloin continues to sit and lick his paw, even going so far as to clean behind one of his ears with it, which seems to piss the Hoothoot off. HOO!!]

[Unfortunately, Purrloin is still faster than Hoothoot.]

"We're not scared! Purrloin, go ahead and use Sc-"

[Rather than using "Sc", Purrloin yowls and hisses at the Hoothoot, which hoots back at him more aggressively. This prompts him to get back into a battle stance.]

"...Or use Torment, I guess..." [This sounds like it may not be the first time that's happened. The sage smirks.]

"You need to train your Purrloin better, it seems! Hoothoot, use Hypnosis!"
"Oh, no!"

[Unfortunately for Purrloin, he was staring straight at Hoothoot when its eyes began glowing with psychic energy, and thus did his pupils go all spirally and did he fall asleep. Amy calls a quiet, concerned espurr! and Madoka gasps. The sage laughs.]

"Alright Hoothoot, now Tackle! Tackle!! Ta-" [Purrloin is struck twice before he manages to roll out of the way and stand up again, with a yawn. Madoka and Amy are relieved.]

"Purrloin! You're awake! I'm so glad... Try and hit it with Pursuit!"

[Purrloin dashes forward in the same manner again, though Hoothoot hops into the air in an attempt at dodging. Purrloin simply strikes it in the face instead, for another K.O. Madoka jumps for joy again as Purrloin makes his way back to her, elated, and then... Purrloin begins to glow.

Madoka stares, mystified, as his form changes in the bright light-

and from that light which blinds the camera for a moment comes a new Liepard, who shakes himself to rid some sparkles from his new fur. Madoka gasps again.]

"Purrloin!?" Liepard!

[The video opens to Madoka sitting on a bed in a Pokémon center, an Espurr and her Purrloin in her lap, a Pidgey resting on her shoulder, and a Hoppip sitting on her head. She seems to be doing well, though there's a sad note in her smile if one were to look hard enough.]

It's been a long while since I said anything, myself, on here, and I have a lot of good news!

[She tries to gesture around without disturbing any of her napping Pokemon.]

We made it to a place called Violet City a few weeks ago! I've been staying in the Pokemon Center, in return for helping out here part-time... I'm not the best, but I think Nurse Joy and the Chanseys really appreciate the help, anyway.

[She gingerly picks up her (obviously very young) Espurr, showing her sleepy self to the camera. ...mrr?]

When we got to Cherrygrove, I checked my PC- Greed-san's egg was there, and safe, like he said it would be in the PC! Amy hatched about a week ago, and she's been a big help at helping us find things around here... She's also very cute, hehe.

[Amy is tucked gently back into her lap, curled up against Purrloin's belly, who starts grooming the top of her head as a token of affection.]

I also have caught new Pokemon! Sandy, [She gestures to the Pidgey on her shoulder,] was the first Pokemon I ever caught, and ever battled against. She's really tough- between Sandy and Purrloin, we made it through the Routes here fairly easily.

And I caught Hoppip just a day or so before we arrived here. It's getting into fall now, and the monks in Sprout Tower are really grateful for Sandy and Hoppip's moves that kick up wind- they move the leaves around a lot more easily than their brooms...

How is everyone? I know it's a little late, but I've put this off too long anyway...

U-um... Hello?

[She’s peering at the small device, pressing a few buttons at random to test their functions. She’s clearly not looking into the camera.]

What is this...? Where am I?

[Her gaze is cast around the small town she’s in, searching for any familiar faces. She gives a despairing frown behind her when she finally reaches it, clearly realizing she can’t get back into that house, then turns to the PokéGear again with a slightly more hopeful expression.]

Hello? Is there anyone there who can hear me? I hope this isn’t just something made by that Witch… Oh… It’s Madoka- Hitomi-chan? Are you there? Can you hear me?

[It’s just then that she seems to notice she can see herself in the device, and there’s a light on- blinking. The moment she realizes that it’s recording shows on her face like the dawn, and she blushes, hiding her face slightly while still looking at the display.

To the side of the screen, her bag visibly shakes, though it takes her a moment more of staring at herself to actually notice. Her hair and ribbons are all messed up from getting out of that bed, and she’s trying to tidy herself up... But what’s that?

A purple cat’s head sticks up out of her bag with something in its mouth, and she startles, dropping the PokéGear in the dirt.]

Ah! There’s...!

[The sounds of turning around in the dirt are picked up by the microphone. It can be assumed she’s gone over to it.]

What are you doing in there, kitty? That’s my stuff...

[The Purrloin yowls at her, and she can be heard falling back onto her bottom as it escapes with its prize.]

W-wait! Come back...!

[The PokéGear is left to record the sky for a few more seconds before automatically turning off; it can be assumed she forgot it there in her haste to chase the thieving Pokémon.]
